The civic movement has won the moral battle and the support of society. Its real challenge begins now: to create an independent political alternative, without falling into the trap of the old parties, extremism or power bargaining...
The month-long civic protest, which has awakened Albanian society and, in particular, the younger generation, has become the most important political phenomenon in the country.
In addition to being a dominant event that keeps millions of people following it with interest in suspense, it has also attracted the attention of the international community, especially the West.
Who, in all likelihood, is the greatest ally of the young people who have rebelled against the old political caste, crime, corruption, misgovernment, and all other deformations of the system.
The protest has already won its moral battle.
It is a pure and "organic" product, not only of the Z generation that dominates the market, but also of their families and a broad segment of society that supports it.
But now we have entered another phase.
And the sooner the transition to it occurs, the better.
The time has come to produce a well-thought-out and high-quality political product.
A political product that represents not only the girls and boys who are an active part of the protest, but also those who have so far supported it on social networks and through the reflection that is happening in society.
Edi Rama and the people around him, shaken by this not only popular, but above all civic and principled hurricane, are trying to use their usual games.
Games that often resemble childish antics in front of an audience that already knows and ridicules them.
Meanwhile, it is being noticed that some of the young people who take the floor in the protest fall, from time to time, into Rama's game.
They deal with responses to his provocations, with algorithms, with Taulant Balla, or with retorts that ultimately keep the debate within the framework set by the prime minister.
In a word, they consume energy by following the empty spin of his propaganda.
Meanwhile, Rama is forced to play the role of a clown, because there is a movement in front of him that has taken away his narrative and replaced it with a much fresher image.
Therefore, the protest should focus on shaping its political product.
Because there is now a responsibility towards people.
To extract the best and least contaminated yeast.
And this is precisely where the biggest challenge lies.
This protest does not need to make pacts with the devil.
There is no need to flirt or enter into alliances with political circles that only seek to capitalize on it.
These circles are numerous.
From old politics, namely Sali Berisha's Democratic Party.
In the circles of political Islam.
Up to the political and organizational structures of Albin Kurti's Vetëvendosje.
All of these have an understandable political interest:
Capitalize on this movement as much as possible.
And this is not surprising.
It is part of the dialectic of politics.
Politics always tries to appropriate the energy that society produces.
But this can only be avoided if the protest quickly produces its leadership group and its leader.
Then every political current will find its own place.
If you want, you can be supportive.
Even part of the debate.
But not an integral part of the direction of the movement.
There is nothing wrong with having dialogue, debate, or even political confrontation with all groups, even the most radical ones.
But the conditions must be set by the protest leaders themselves.
Likewise, political red lines.
Especially the contours of geopolitical orientation.
Above all, the protest should not accept any gifts, any funding, and any material support from politically problematic groups.
Because the moment you do this, you lose your independence.
