The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, has reacted after the incident recorded in the Parliament, where he was seen taking the agreement document with the United States of America for the 302 million dollar loan and leaving the hall with it.
In a statement to the media, Shehaj explained that he acted in accordance with the procedure announced by the Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi. According to him, after signing the confidentiality statement, he took the document to read and then left.
"Regarding the news that has come out about the agreement document, you simply saw for yourself that the speaker of parliament told the MPs who were complaining that they could find it at the office nearby. He didn't say that you couldn't get it. I went, signed the document for the non-distribution of the agreement and left. They ask us a lot of things in the Assembly, they even ask us not to go when Rama is there," he said.
Shehaj added that, after becoming familiar with the content of the document, he returned it to the office where he had received it, emphasizing that the agreement did not leave the premises of the Assembly.
"I handed the agreement back to where I received it. The agreement did not come from the Albanian Parliament. I received it because it belonged to me. It is a secret agreement and I am not authorized to give details," he said.
In conclusion, the leader of the Opportunity Party announced that the political force he leads will support the agreement in principle, but opposes the way it is being handled in the Assembly.
"In principle, we are in favor of the agreement, but we are against the procedure being followed by the Parliament," declared Shehaj.
