The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, has opposed the construction of a staircase in the park between the 9 floors and the Palace of Culture, in Tirana.
Basha says that it is one of the few parks that Tirana has left, while calling on SPAK to start investigations immediately.
"The demolition of one of the few parks left in Tirana in order to build a new tower there is clear evidence of the destruction of the capital and the use of public spaces as laundromats to clean crime money. It is no secret that a large part of the new constructions in Tirana and elsewhere are the perfect covers of visible and invisible connections between political corruption, economic crime and organized crime.
It is just as significant that those who are silent today and throw mud during the day, at night are part of the bargain at the expense of the interests of the citizens.
I encourage SPAK to immediately start investigations to find out who is hiding behind this tower? Whose money is being laundered there?
The green space that is being destroyed rises above the pit that stinks Tirana for years, and is now being transformed into the tower where the money of crime, corruption and dirty political bargains will be cleaned. So my call for justice is to turn it into a crime scene before it's too late.
The Democratic Party unreservedly supports the investigation by SPAK of constructions with the dirty money of crime and corruption in the main links of government. "Follow the money and links to crime" is the essence of the vetting of politicians.
