The opposition created tension in the Assembly today, although the British and German ambassadors were in the hall.
Gazment Bardhi told reporters that he welcomes the presence of the ambassadors in the parliament hall, but emphasized that they were not informed that President Bajram Begaj would speak at the session. Asked if they are afraid of being expelled from the Assembly after the chaos they created in this session, Bardhi said they did not commit any act of violence.
How do you comment on the presence of ambassadors in the Assembly, have you had contact with them?
Bardhi: I welcome the presence of each of the ambassadors. Each of them, unlike the president, has encouraged the parties for political dialogue, you know their statements, both of the British and German ambassadors. I do not meet any representative of friendly countries neither to give nor to receive advice. I have not received any advice. They are worried that Albania will have to have a functioning parliament. For the parliament to become functional, we must go to the cause. Not allowing parliamentary control over the executive and free elections.
How do you think the conflict in the parliament between the opposition and the majority is resolved?
Bardhi: I did not attack the president. Today the president behaved as if he is blind, as if he does not know that there is a conflict between the majority and the opposition in the Assembly.
Are you afraid of exclusion?
Bardhi: The right to protest is a right guaranteed by the constitution of the Republic of Albania. The president's speech was not on the agenda. We didn't know what the president would say. The SP knew, while the DP and opposition groups in the Assembly did not know about the president's speech. He did not commit any act of violence in the sessions and any action that is disciplined as a violation by the regulations of the Assembly of Albania.
