The US Embassy in Tirana, two days ago, issued an interesting message regarding the policy of revocation or blocking of visas.
Since it was a Sunday, the news passed without much fanfare, but the embassy seems to have sent a very clear message to many names in our country.
" The U.S. Department of State is committed to making America safer through more demanding policies. A key measure is the ongoing vetting of all individuals, ensuring the security and integrity of our nation."
"U.S. visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously screen visa holders to ensure they comply with all U.S. immigration laws and regulations – and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they fail to do so ," the embassy statement said.
Starting from this message, it should be noted that in addition to the "non grata" declaration by the State Department, Washington also follows another policy for corrupt officials or those suspected of being involved in affairs, that of revoking visas. If we look carefully, there are many politicians who have not set foot in the US for years. We have only seen a handful of names travel, as many others have had their visas revoked (those who had assets), while many others have had their applications rejected.
In 2019, a figure was first released. At the time, it was said that 170 officials had their visas denied. But this figure has increased significantly recently. According to information, the US has been meticulous when it comes to names accused or rumored to be involved in affairs.
All those judges and prosecutors who have remained in vetting are unable to travel to the US. Also, a large part of those who are under indictment by SPAK are also unable to set foot on American soil. This includes MPs, former ministers, mayors, judges, prosecutors or police officers and lawyers. So anyone who is on SPAK's radar should forget that they can travel to the US.
