The meeting of the Council of Mandates has started, where SPAK's request for the arrest of Sali Berisha will be examined.

The former prime minister himself has refused to appear at the meeting of the Council of Mandates and Immunity, while he is in the protest that is taking place simultaneously outside the building of the Presidency of the Assembly.

Berisha is represented by his two lawyers, Sokol Mëngjesi and Genc Gjokutaj.

Meanwhile, the two SPAK prosecutors who requested the removal of the former prime minister's immunity in the Assembly, Arben Kraja and Enkeleda Millonai, are also present at the meeting.

From the opposition, there is only the deputy of the Democratic Party, Enkeled Alibeaj

On the other hand, Berisha started a protest as he refused to participate in the meeting of the Council where the decision to remove the immunity from the Assembly is expected.

It is learned that around 700 police officers have been located in front of the premises of the Assembly in order to ensure the smooth progress of the protest, including officers from the Tirana police and FNSH.

It is reported that high-resolution cameras have been placed near the Parliament to identify every movement of the protesters so that the police have all the possible evidence if there are incidents.

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha himself issued a press statement before the protest and announced that he will not participate in that meeting, which according to him humiliates the Assembly.

The Council of Mandates is made up of Speaker of Parliament Lindit Nikolla and 4 SP MPs, while the presence of opposition MPs is in question, because 4 out of 5 of them have been expelled.

It is about Gazment Bardhin, Greta Bardeli, Ervin Salianji and Saimir Korreshi, who have joined the action supported by Sali Berisha for not allowing the development of parliamentary committees and plenary sessions until their demands for the establishment of investigative commissions are met.
