Albin Kurti: The Kosovo Police disrupted the comfort of criminal gangs in the

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the increased police activity in Kosovo has disrupted the comfort of criminal gangs in the north, referring to the Serbs.

"Exactly because of this increased police activity in that area, there have been successive attacks on our officials, of which 25 officials were slightly injured, one was injured and one is currently undergoing medical treatment after the injury he received in the action the notorious criminal Llune", said Kurti during the graduation ceremony of the 58th generation of the Kosovo Police.

Millun Millenkovic - Llune was arrested on June 13 in North Mitrovica, in an action by the special forces of the Kosovo Police.

He is suspected of involvement in the attack on the Electoral Commission facility in North Mitrovica, as well as of participation in the clashes between protesters and members of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, on May 29 in Zveçan.

Kurti did not clarify during which period of time the 27 policemen mentioned by him were injured, but earlier during the speech he mentioned the last two years, during his government.

Even the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that the attacks on Kosovo Police officers have intensified and he also stated that they are facing "criminal gangs" in the north of the country.

The recent tensions in the north of Kosovo, which increased at the end of May due to the arrival of Albanian mayors at the head of the municipalities, continue even further.

On July 10, the EU and Kosovo confirmed that they have reached an agreement to de-escalate the situation, and a day later the concrete steps were presented: the withdrawal of 25 percent of the police from and around municipal buildings in the north, the organization of extraordinary local elections after the summer and the return to dialogue for the normalization of relations.

In the graduation ceremony of the 58th generation of the Kosovo Police, where 419 young cadets graduated, the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, also participated.

"Today, all together, let's once again express our thanks and unparalleled pride to our police officers who are serving in the north of our country to protect every inch of the Republic of Kosovo", Osmani said .

She called for Kosovo's membership in the International Police Agency (Interpol) and the European Police Agency (Europol).
