The envoy of the United States of America for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, will hold an online conference with journalists today.
The conference is expected to be held starting at 15:00. It is learned that Escobar will talk to journalists about the latest developments in Kosovo and Serbia. The abduction of three Kosovo policemen by Serbian forces further aggravated the situation between the two states.
Kosovo authorities said that its officers were kidnapped inside the territory, while Belgrade claims that their arrest was carried out inside its land.
Yesterday, KFOR on Thursday said that they were not present in the area where the three officers were kidnapped.
On the other hand, the US State Department called for the release of the "hostages" without any conditions, but so far there has been no decision on their release. This position was expressed by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at the daily press conference.
"We believe that Kosovo and Serbia should take measures to de-escalate the situation, and this includes the unconditional release of the three Kosovo police officers who were recently detained," he said .
Miller also stated that "both sides must follow the three-point plan presented by the EU".
