Daniel John Valtier is a crazy Shakira fan, but his admiration for the Colombian star landed him behind bars. Valtier was arrested after stalking and harassing the Colombian singer. Shakira moved to Miami with her children in April 2023 after splitting from Gerard Pique, but the stay there was not so smooth because of the 56-year-old.
Florida authorities arrested the 56-year-old on Monday, January 8 after he went to the singer's house with the intention of breaking in. He claims that he had a relationship with the Colombian singer, which he also expressed before the court.
The judge had set bail at $50,000, but after the defendant's claim and insistence that Shakira is his wife, the judge raised the bail to $100,000.
“No sir, she is not your wife. I have some concerns, real concerns now, because this man is hallucinating," the judge tells him.
Valtier allegedly shared several social media posts about Shakira, which were turned over to authorities by her security team on January 3. He appeared at the singer's house only five days later, at 12:45 in a taxi, before he was arrested.
