Lady Diana, Princess of Wales is still in people's minds and hearts even though 26 years have passed since her death.
She was a woman full of life and vitality and brought happiness to many people.
When Diana Spencer met Prince Charles, a love story was born. They first met when she was just 16 and he was dating her older sister. Diana was very impressed, but still too young to bond with him.
In 1980, Diana and Charles met again and then started dating. Six months later, he proposed to them. This was in February 1981, and Diana chose the wedding ring from Garrard's collection: a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire, surrounded by 14 diamonds in 18-carat solid gold.
On July 29, 1981, all eyes were on Lady Diana. She went to the wedding ceremony accompanied by her father, in the carriage previously used by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Diana's wedding with Prince Charles at the time was considered the "wedding of the century".
She was the first British commoner to marry an heir to the British throne in almost 300 years.
The day of Diana's wedding to Charles was designated as a national holiday. The congregation at St Paul's Cathedral was attended by 3,500 people, while another 750 million watched their wedding ceremony worldwide, according to BBC figures for the "live" broadcast in 74 countries.
"I didn't know what was waiting for me. One day I went to work by bus, while the next day I was a princess", said Diana.
Diana's wedding dress was a white, puffy gown with large sleeves.
It was created by renowned designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel, and the ivory taffeta gown cost £9,000. The crown that Diana wore on her head was part of the Spencer family heirloom.
Although she was a daughter-in-law in the royal family, Diana continued to work as a kindergarten teacher at "Young England Kindergarten", Pimlico.
As soon as she became Princess of Wales, she rose to prominence for her charitable causes. Princess Diana was president of the children's charity "Barnardo's" from 1984-1996 and participated in more than 100 events on behalf of this foundation. Diana and Charles give birth to two children, and the rest is history.
