Erica's Story:
My story starts when I was 19 years old, I was in a relationship with a girl. This relationship lasted for almost 3 years, and a child was born from this relationship. It's a bit difficult as a story. At first it started well, like any relationship. I worked as a waitress in a bar where he came every day. One fine day he asked me out, I liked him, he seemed like an interesting guy and I said 'why not' as a young girl. The consent was from both sides and we started to get to know each other. Everything was ok, very nice, we continued our normal relationship.
Until we decided to take things a little more seriously and got engaged. In the beginning, he was very careful, he gave a lot of love, time, dedication, attention, everything a woman needs, respect above all. After we got engaged, I lived with his family, I stayed there for 3 months. During this period I became pregnant. Then he ran out and told me that I will get. During the period that I became pregnant, I returned to my family. Since he ran away, I felt more at ease at home. There began the first conflicts over issues of jealousy.
There came a moment when I decided to run away to him. Jealousy arose from my ex-partner's clothing, hair, basic things. He used to tell me 'why are you wearing this short dress, why these pants so tight'. They turned into insults, things that made me change my mind about my partner. It brought up something I hadn't experienced before while we were just in a relationship. I was also with a child in my belly, I had to be calmer during that period. At the moment when he should have been closer to me, calmer, he began to show a completely different side from the one I knew. He also told me 'you don't have the child with me'.
I decided to go to that person even though my family did not agree. I left school and everything to go to him because he lived in Italy. I said that he would change after becoming a father, like any woman who thinks the best for her child, who will not raise the child without a father. The moment I went there, every possible bad thing started until it reached physical violence, even when I was pregnant. I didn't tell anyone about this, about the violence I was experiencing because I didn't want to disturb my family or his. There were two families in the middle, it wasn't just me and him, there was also a child above all. Seeing that this thing lasted, I knew I had to end it.
In the period after the baby was born, there were two occasions when I said 'stop, it doesn't work as a relationship'. The first was when he pushed me with the child in his arms and the second, the moment when he pointed the knife at me. The first thing my parents said to me when I told them was 'you have always had our door open and take your child and come to your house'. They raised my child as if they had their own. I opened the divorce because he didn't want it. I decided to break up, I told him 'there is no turning back'. I don't want my child tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, to grow up and be a bad man to a woman above all".
