A Chinese company's year-end party has drawn international attention for its unusual bonus distribution method. Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. Ltd placed a whopping $26 million in cash on 800 banquet tables, allowing employees to take as much as they could carry.

The event took place on February 13 and attracted about 7,000 attendees. Under the colorful lights of the party hall, employees, dressed in costumes, were seen taking pictures and collecting banknotes placed on tables. According to a report by the Chosun Daily, one of the employees managed to take home about $13,000.

During the celebration, the company's CEO, Cui Peijun, explained the reason behind this unusual method:

"Some people ask why we don't just transfer the money to their accounts, but this way it's just cold numbers," he is quoted as saying, emphasizing that the physical experience of receiving money creates greater emotion and motivation.

He also added that in previous years the company had distributed gold jewelry as rewards, but this time decided to give cash, adding an additional 20,000 yuan (about $2,800) to each.

The company, founded in 2002, operates in the production and rental of cranes and cooperates with over 130 companies. In 2024, it recorded a net profit of $38 million, of which about $24 million was distributed to employees as bonuses.

Also, for International Women's Day last year, the company distributed around $230,000 in bonuses to nearly 2,000 employees.

Cui Peijun, who owns 98.88% of the company's shares, has previously stated that his motivation is related to supporting employees in the face of rising living costs.

"It's not that I like giving money, but young people are burdened with car loans and mortgages, and any relief we can offer helps," he said.

The case of Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. Ltd has become a rare example of direct profit distribution, prompting widespread discussions on employee reward culture and workplace motivation.
