The head of the Parliamentary Group of the LVV, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, has reacted regarding the representation of Kosovo in the "Tirana Marathon" that was held yesterday in Tirana.
Through a reaction on Facebook, Kusari-Lila has said that the runners from Kosovo have not been recognized as belonging to the state.
"But, while all the participants from other countries were recognized as belonging to the state and the state flag was marked in the results of the race, unfortunately this was not the case with the runners from Kosovo", she wrote.
The deputy emphasized that the participants from Kosovo were represented with the sign XK and not KOS, as is the official abbreviation, and the flag of Kosovo was not next to the abbreviation.
"All the participants from the Republic of Kosovo in the Tirana Marathon were representatives with the sign XK (and not KOS, according to the official abbreviation of Kosovo) and next to this abbreviation was not our flag. It means, the final result of the race does not bear either the name or the flag of Kosovo, despite the fact that year after year, the number of citizens of Kosovo is increasing in the run of Tirana", said Kusari-Lila.
Kusari-Lila added that we encountered the same case earlier in North Macedonia, but the mistake was corrected two years ago, after the reaction of the runners from Kosovo.
"I would not have thought that the day would come when the official abbreviation would not be recognized and the flag of Kosovo would be marked in Albania. Being aware that the mistake is beyond technical, there is no other background, I ask the organizers to raise this issue with the Greek company that administered the race numbers, and never again to repeat this mistake", she wrote, adding that "Albania does not it should be on the list of countries that violate the state representation of contestants from Kosovo".
