31-year-old model Maleesa Mooney was found dead in her apartment in Los Angeles.
Traces of cocaine were found in her apartment, while the coroner said that death was caused by blows with hard objects to the head, back and arms.
Toxicology results revealed that there were traces of cocaine metabolites as well as alcohol in the body of the deceased.
"Based on the circumstances of Mooney's body being found and her injuries, we believe she was involved in a fight prior to her death. It is unknown if drugs and alcohol played a role in the incident," the death report said.
Mooney was found in her South Figueroa apartment on Sept. 12 after her mother called police to check after losing contact with her. The officers who entered the apartment found a pool of blood near the refrigerator where the body of the deceased was.
In addition to the impact marks, the officers said there were strangulation marks on the victim's neck.
Mooney's sister, model Jourdin Pauline, said her sister was two months pregnant and had always wanted to be a mother. Mooney had only moved into the luxury apartment complex two months earlier.
The death of the beautiful model has raised fears among local residents, especially since another model, Nichole "Nikki" Coats, was found dead two days ago, a few kilometers away in Los Angeles. Coats' family feared their 32-year-old daughter had been killed, but an autopsy released two days ago revealed she died of an accidental overdose of cocaine and alcohol.
Her father, Guy Coats, told the media that when he identified Nikki she looked disfigured and that they only identified her by her tattoos. Coats' cause of death was listed as "cocaine and ethanol poisoning."
