Latin singer and social media influencer Maria De La Rosa, known by her stage name DELAROSA, was shot and killed in Los Angeles in a violent attack early Saturday. She was just 22 years old.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the incident occurred in Northridge, in the San Fernando Valley, at around 1:30 a.m., when gunmen approached a parked vehicle and opened fire on the occupants. There were three people inside the vehicle, and all three were injured by the barrage of bullets.
DELAROSA was rushed to the hospital, but despite the efforts of doctors, she could not survive her injuries, reports A2 CNN. The other two people in the vehicle remained in critical condition. No arrests have been made yet and police have not provided details about the motive, although investigators suspect the attack may be related to criminal gang activities.
The incident has shocked the local community and fans of the singer, who was recently starting to break into the Latin music scene. In August, DELAROSA released her song “No Me Llames,” which was positively received and marked an important step towards her professional career. On Instagram, she had about 40 thousand followers, while her latest post, a series of photos from the music studio, was filled with comments of condolence.
