Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded as an "excellent ambassador" of Portugal at the "Quinas de Ouro Gala".
On this occasion, the five-time "Golden Ball" winner spoke to all the media present: "I am proud to receive this trophy. I don't see it as an end, but as a beginning.
I thank the Portuguese Football Federation for this award, for the long journey I made in the national team with so much pride and hard work. When I joined the national team, at the age of 18, my dream was to play my first international match, then 25, 50, 100″.
Ronaldo's mentality is perfectly explained by his speech: "Now I ask myself: Why not 150, 200 games? The national team is a fantastic feeling, so I would like to tell my friends: after winning so many trophies, I see nothing better than representing the country, the culture, the nation, the parents, the children".
Many are asking him to reach 1,000 career goals, but CR7 'blames' himself for setting the bar too high:
"I'll be honest, it's my fault, because now I see life as living it at this moment, we can't think long. I want to enjoy the present. I said myself that I wanted to reach 1000 goals, but I don't know if I will succeed. However, I'm still the player with the most goals in history, so that's good."
