Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has confirmed he is undergoing treatment for cancer after the news was revealed on social media. The 75-year-old former footballer and manager had previously kept his health private but was forced to speak out after the news broke.

In a message shared on social media, Dalglish announced that the treatment is progressing as expected.

" Currently undergoing cancer treatment. Unlike my phone use, the treatments are going well ," he wrote, asking for his and his family's privacy to be respected. Dalglish also thanked the medical staff for their care and support during this period.

Born in 1951, Kenny Dalglish is considered one of the most important figures in the history of British football. He made his mark first with Celtic in Scotland and then with Liverpool, where he became a symbol of the club's success during the 1970s and 1980s.

With the Reds, Dalglish won three European Cups and six Premier League titles. After his playing career ended, he managed Liverpool as a manager from 1985 to 1991, returning to the team's bench in the 2011-12 season.

Following his announcement, Liverpool immediately reacted with a message of support on social media.

" You have our support and warmth, Sir Kenny ," the English club wrote.

Meanwhile, the news comes just days after another big name in Liverpool history, Kevin Keegan, publicly announced that the cancer he was diagnosed with in January is in stage four, the most advanced stage of the disease.
