Neymar will have to wait a little longer to make his World Cup debut. The Brazilian forward will not be available for the Brazil national team even for the match against Haiti, as confirmed by the Brazilian Football Federation in an official statement.
According to the statement, it has been decided that the player will not be put at risk and will continue the final phase of his recovery, staying in New Jersey and not traveling with the team to Philadelphia for the next game.
" Footballer Neymar will not travel with the delegation to Philadelphia. He will remain in New Jersey to optimize the final phase of his recovery process, using one of the hotel's specialized facilities ," the federation said in a statement.
The decision appears to have been made after consultations between the technical staff and the player. In Brazil's latest training session, Neymar was seen in a long conversation with coach Carlo Ancelotti, suggesting that it was discussed and decided that he would not be available for the match yet.
Attention is now focused on the final group stage match against Scotland, where it remains to be seen whether Neymar will be fully fit to make his tournament debut.
