Several qualifying matches in the European zone for the 2026 World Cup were played today. In Group E, Turkey won 2-3 away against Georgia, Spain won 0-3 away against Bulgaria.
The Spaniards found the goal after 5 minutes of play. After a long action, Zubimendi provided a beautiful assist for Ojarzabal, who evaded the defenders and sent the ball into the net. In the other match in this group, Northern Ireland won 1-3 away against Luxembourg and currently hold first place.
Belgium won away against Liechtenstein with the score 0-6 with goals from Maxime De Kuiper in the 29th minute, Tielemans in the 70th minute from the penalty spot, Teate in the 60th minute, De Brojne 2 minutes later and Foana in the 90th + 1st minute. The Belgians are ranked third in Group J behind Wales and North Macedonia.
In Rotterdam, the Netherlands could only manage a 1-1 draw against Poland. The “Tulips” found the goal in the 28th minute through Denzel Dumfries, who headed home a corner from Memphis Depay. Poland equalized through Mati Kesh 10 minutes from time, with a powerful shot on the edge of the penalty area, after a long action. The final score was 1-1. The Netherlands, Poland and Finland lead the group with 7 points each, but the Dutch have one game less than their other two rivals.
