Another Albanian striker is doing well in Italy this season and expects that in the future he will receive an invitation from the coach of the national team, Silvinjo. Silvio Merkaj has been decisive with the shirt of Sudtirol, helping the latter to remain in the race for the play-offs, for climbing to the elite of Italian football.
The striker, transferred during the summer to the Serie B club, scored the goal that sealed the 3-0 victory for his team against Cremonese, one of the contending teams for promotion to Serie A. The 26-year-old striker was activated in the 64th minute of the challenge and in the 83rd minute, sent the ball into the net to end discussions about the fate of the match.
This was the fourth goal this season for Merkaj, who has also provided two assists in the 25 games he has played with this team's jersey, mainly being activated as a substitute. Sudtirol is 9th in the standings, chasing 8th place which leads to the play-off stage of the tournament.
