An investigative group is continuing the work to find out the causes of the underwater explosion where the businessman Armandi Nelaj was left dead and whether we are dealing with a murder or an accidental event.
Sources say that the investigative team has collected several metal parts at the site of the explosion, which have been sent to the Scientific Police Laboratory for examination, the results of which will determine precisely what the substance is, tritol or a malfunction of the oxygen cylinder.
The explosion happened at 22:00 on June 24, 2024, when all the attention was on the Albania - Spain match. It is not yet known where the 52-year-old man went ashore. It is learned that the family members have not shown any suspicions about other people, which has not helped the investigators much in concretizing an exact track. It is reported that Nelaj himself had no conflicts with anyone, but the investigators are still continuing with the verifications.
Businessman Nelaj, the father of two children, has owned a company, Grand Construction, of heavy construction equipment for 13 years.
The leads of the investigation that the police are investigating is that we may be dealing with a well-planned criminal act.
Nelaj was diving in the sea when he died as a result of an explosion. Initially, the investigative group suspected that the oxygen cylinder had exploded and the victim was a foreign diver, but now the suspicions are that it was an explosion with tritol to eliminate him. The businessman Nelaj was also mentioned earlier for an affair regarding the alienation of a public property, a flower garden in the center of the city of Saranda.
