International affairs expert Ledion Krisafi has commented on the latest developments in the Israel-Iran conflict, analyzing the situation following the declaration of a ceasefire.
According to him, although the parties have officially agreed to a cessation of hostilities, there are signals of violations of the agreement, including a possible ballistic missile launch by Iran, which is still unconfirmed.
Krisafi stressed that the US intervention, and especially Donald Trump's reaction, aims to exert pressure on Israel to avoid a new escalation.
He stated that Israel has fulfilled its strategic objectives and now bears primary responsibility for maintaining the ceasefire, while Iran is in a militarily weakened position.
Krisafi does not rule out the possibility that Iran will redefine its role in the region, transforming into an actor similar to Hezbollah, but on a state scale.
"It seems that there was a ceasefire violation by Iran, there was a ballistic missile in the early hours of the morning, but so far there is nothing confirmed. Trump, with his reaction, also calls on Israel not to attack. The US attack was not for regime change. Israel has fulfilled its objectives, it no longer makes sense to continue the war. In such cases, it happens that ceasefires are not closed 100%, there are cases that happen, the parties harass each other.
Israel is the one that has control over Iranian airspace, so Israel has a greater responsibility for the ceasefires. Now is the time for the parties to sit at the table, and the parties are the US and Iran, not Israel. Trump is restraining Israel from attacking. Israel and the US have a different level of communication, the fact that it comes out on Social Truth means that it places more responsibility on Israel. If an agreement is reached, there will be a restriction on Iran, on ballistic missiles.
"The negotiations will not be very easy, because the conditions for Iran are very high. In 12 days of war, Iran has been crushed. But I do not exclude the possibility that Iran will turn into a giant 'Hezbollah'. In this part, Iran is the one at a disadvantage because its large military arsenal has been destroyed. It is difficult to say that the war is over, because time has shown that conflicts in the Middle East do not end easily," the expert told ABC News.
