Thank you! But I won't talk too much and don't force me! I will tell only about that night. In the Department of Internal Affairs of Saranda, I worked for 20 years as a driver for its chairman.
Then what can you say about that event that has remained imprinted in the minds of Sarandjots?
Yes! When they were arrested, it was 1984, as I remember. We were all told to be at the Branch and there we stayed. You can't do naze. Midnight was coming and there were no orders, we were used to such things, because we were also near the border and there could be an incident at the border; both for escape and violation, saboteurs. A doubt lingered, but it did not hold us.
The guesses expressed usually ended up behind the bars of the investigation. But today, I'm telling you the doubt I had: "Like us, they keep us on standby and the president and the two vice presidents are not here?! Well, it will be a serious event, so they will be in a meeting with the First Secretary of the District Party Committee", because they used to go there once, before any situation or arrest.
We didn't talk. Midnight found us in these guesses, when two "IFA" vehicles (trucks) with guards and six "ARO" (Romanian vehicles, used by officials) with the Deputy Minister Zylyftar Ramizi and operatives of the Ministry arrive and stop in the yard of the branch. of the Interior. The guards surrounded the Internal Branch, while Zylyftari, without speaking at all, entered the office of the guard officer, whom he took out, with a single word: "Go away"! Keep only the NCO.
At the time Zylyftari was dealing with the non-commissioned officer, I asked my friends, drivers of Tirana, that; what is it?! They told me with raised shoulders that they were perverted: "First they ordered to Durrës, because there is an uprising, then to Lushnja, Fier, Gjirokastër and we ended up in Saranda. We know nothing! Yes, apparently, here is the wedding. That we did not stop in any city, despite the fact that they ordered us as we approached the city, they said that the insurgents are further away, until we came here"!
As I showed above, the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Zylyftari, after dismissing the guard officer from duty, dealt with the non-commissioned officer, whom he ordered to notify the president and the two vice presidents, to appear in the emergency body. They were notified immediately. We were anxiously waiting to see what would happen. Although we were used to it, each case still had its own strangeness. Absolute peace. Zylyftari's eyes looked at all of us, who were still standing there. Meanwhile, the mayor, Sali Veliu, entered the gate.
Zylyftari came out of the guard officer's office, which was next to the large outer gate and the mayor's outstretched hand of welcome, addressed you with the words: "By order of the Prosecutor General, of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, you are under arrest "! We were all stunned! They handcuffed him to one of the "AROs". To tell you the truth, they brought tears to my eyes, the night helped me and they didn't see me, because otherwise I was drunk. After a few minutes, the vice president, Panajot Barka, arrives. This same fate and words, like the chairman.
The Inner Branch seemed to shake all over, as if a 10-magnitude earthquake was about to flatten everything. And it really leveled everything. After a while, the other vice president, Sami Resuli, arrives, because they came according to the distance of the apartments on foot, they didn't even let me take the mayor by car. He also ended up in handcuffs. They didn't keep them anymore, they started urgently towards Tirana. The soldiers crackled their weapons. Fear everywhere. Two of the incoming "AROs" headed towards Livadhja, where the Command and Headquarters of the Border Battalion for the South was located. There they arrested the head of the Border Staff and a non-commissioned officer.
Na thanë të ikim në shtëpi. Sa arritëm, mbërritën ushtarët dhe policët dhe na lajmëruan për t’u paraqitur përsëri në Degë. “Epo vate kjo punë”!- thashë. Si unë thanë edhe të tjerët, siç treguan më pas. Pashë edhe një herë fëmijët dhe u nisa për në Degë. Nuk kam ndjerë më dhimbje në veten time, kur pashë gruan dhe fëmijët, që më shikonin të çuditur…! A pa, pa! Çaste tmerri…! Shpirti dhembka shumë, nga dëshpërimi i gruas dhe qelqi i syrit të fëmijës?! Po nejse…vajta në Degë.
Qenë mbledhur shumë, e të tjerë vinin. Të hutuar e të trembur. Po rrinim tek porta e “Shën Pjetrit” dhe prisnim kujt do t’i flitej emri…?! Na futën në sallën e mbledhjeve, ku erdhi përsëri zv/ministri, Zylyftar Ramizi dhe shkurt komunikoi zyrtarisht emrat e të arrestuarve. Vetëm emrat, pa motivacion. Sallën e mbretëronte një qetësi dhe frikë absolute. More, nuk dëgjohej miza! Nuk të besohet, po kështu qe vërtet. Na pyeti të gjithëve me radhë.
Një oficeri të kontrollit, i foli ashpër: -“Po ti?! Nuk i kape dot ato dy vajzat, që u arratisën? Që në Qafë të Muzinës, t’i kapje, ndaj je! Apo ha bostan shumë ti, të pëlqen i shkreti, ë?! Edhe një Punëtori tjetër Operativ të qytetit, i tha: -“Edhe ty do të fut në burg, sylesh! Të duket vetja bukurosh dhe s’e ke mendjen në punë”. Dhe vërtet, pas tre ditësh, Qazimi u arrestua dhe u burgos. S’e bënte fjalën dy Ramizi, jo! Ja kjo qe historia e bujshme e arrestimit të tyre. Një arrestim i tmerrshëm. As Kadri Hazbiut, nuk iu bë arrestim i tillë…!
Me shumë interes për lexuesin këto që na treguat, por mund të vazhdojmë edhe pak? Si u prit nga punonjësit e Degës, arrestimi i Kryetarit dhe dy shefave kryesorë?
Diçka thashë edhe më lart. Nuk mbajta asgjë. U bë një arrestim shumë i poshtër. Një arrestim, që s’kish bërë vaki ndonjëherë që Dega e Punëve të Brendshme, jo vetëm e Sarandës, të rrethohej nga forcat e Gardës së Republikës dhe të arrestohen drejtuesit e saj në atë mënyrë! Mund t’i thërritnin në mbledhje në Ministri dhe t’i arrestonin. Dyqind forca, dhe në atë kohë…me gjithë ato mjete dhe operativë të ministrisë së Brendshme?!
Sot a beson në akuzën që u hodh mbi të arrestuarit që përmendëm?
E vërteta është që në shpirt, nuk e besuam. Po heshtëm, frika…! Sali Veliu, qe një kryetar shumë i mirë, babaxhan e popullor. Edhe dy nënkryetarët, Panajoti dhe Samiu, shumë të mirë qenë. U çuditëm se si ky njeri, që qe shumë i rregullt në punë e shoqëri përfundoi në pranga! Po ma do mendja, me që qe mallakastriot dhe s’qenë mbaruar akoma spastrimet, nga krahu i Mehmet Shehut…!
Juve, ju thirrën në hetuesi?
Po, po! Na pyetën shumë. Po lëre…! Më në fund, na hoqën edhe nga puna. Për këtë nuk flas!
Po më thatë, që punuat 20 vjet shofer, tek kryetari i Degës së Punëve të Brendshme. Udhëtuat ndonjëherë me ministrin e Brendshëm?
Po! Kam udhëtuar dy herë me Kadri Hazbiun dhe një herë me Hekuran Isain. Kadriu më dukej njeri shumë i mirë. Nuk të bënte përshtypje shumë të keqe ai njeri. Qe i rregullt dhe i përpiktë, në sjellje e fjalë. Me të udhëtova, njëherë në Konispol dhe njëherë në Vlorë.
Gjatë rrugës, të dy rastet, nuk bëri asnjë pyetje provokuese. Qe burrë i matur. Me Hekuranin, udhëtova vetëm njëherë, në Himarë. Edhe ky qe shumë i urtë dhe i mirë. Po mund të them, sipas mendimit tim, se po t’i krahasosh, qe më i mirë nga Kadriu…!

Mirë, po si mendoni, të qe vërtet armik, Kadri Hazbiu?
Nuk e di! Si të them… klane… bërryla… kolltuku… pushteti…! Unë s’kam aq shumë shkollë sa të gjykoj e, të jap një mendim të saktë, si përgjigje të pyetjes suaj. As e kuptonim fare atëherë, se pse e si u futën në burg, sepse edhe mendimi, të çonte në burg. Le të flisje po të doje! Sot ka komente e dokumente të ndryshme, që mund ta zbardhin të vërtetën.
Ndonjë kujtim tjetër që ruan me kryetarin?
Ka shumë! Të gjitha i kam të palidhura me punën. Nuk fliste në makinë fare. I vetmi kujtim me punën dhe më i hidhuri, është arrestimi i tij. Fola dhe më lart. Qe njeri i mirë. Nuk merrte asgjë si dhuratë a, ryshfet. (nga ato që kishte koha produkte bujqësore e blegtorale.) Bile më thoshte, që me mua dhe për mua, mos merr asgjë! Megjithëse me një rrogë të vogël e, me shpenzime të shumta, qe njeri i mirë e i rregullt, Sali Veliu.
A keni ndonjë një kujtim familjar?
Po, se edhe ai ka lidhje me arrestimin. Sali Veliu bëri dasmën e vajzës dhe menjëherë pas katër ditësh, e arrestuan.
Mos kish ndonjë motiv nga dasma, arrestimi?!
Jo! Para dasmës më dërgoi mua në frigoriferin e thertores (thertorja e jugut) së Delvinës dhe mora koka qengji, për t’i servirur të pjekura, tek të gjithë të ftuarit. Mora dhe mish. Pagova lekët dhe i prura faturën. Të gjitha i çuam tek Bar-Restorant “Bistrica”, për t’i gatuar, se aty u bë dhe dasma.
Bëri një dasmë shumë të mirë, se e kish dhe vajzë të vetme. Ke të drejtë që pyet se edhe në hetuesi, na pyetën: -“Pse e bëri kryetari dasmën, me koka qengji”?! Kushedi ku u shkonte mendja atyre…?!
Pas gjithë këtyre, e ndjenit se mund t’u vinte arrestimi edhe juve si shofer i kryetarit, tanimë i akuzuar si armik dhe puçist?!
Pas kësaj më pushuan nga puna si shofer i kryetarit dhe më caktuan në zjarrfikëset e qytetit. Po nga Dega e Punëve të Brendshme, varej edhe ky repart. Muaj të tërë, rrija i trembur. As me shokët s’flisja. Le që edhe ata, nuk rrinin e flisnin me mua. Ruheshim shumë. Edhe sot çuditem, se si nuk përfundova në pranga…?!
Qe koha e spastrimeve të mëdha. Edhe njëherë të vetme të kishe pirë kafe, me një nga “armiqtë” e etiketuar, pikëpyetja kthehej në pranga. Edhe sot falënderoj fatin, që më shpëtoi. Po nga që situatat precipituan e, rrodhën ndryshe shumë shpejt, shpëtuam.
Sot pas 40 vitesh të ngjarjes, si e gjykon veprimin e asaj kohe?
Too bad! An arrest that never happened at that time! Many hostile groups, members of the Political Bureau and the Council of Ministers were arrested, what about this type of arrest, no, no, I have not seen it, don't close my eyes. We didn't understand, why in that way...?! The chairman was also a member of the Bureau of the Party Committee of the district and so simple, that he met with co-operatives and ordinary people, whoever wanted to meet him.
It was massive. He did not participate in the arrests. He was not an aggressive person. Even when they were arrested, his face was red and he never spoke to them. He behaved well with colleagues and subordinates. I was very regular: office-work-home! He didn't go to parties and clubs, no! After their arrest, stricter rules were imposed and fear radiated everywhere, on every face of the employees of the Department of Internal Affairs in Saranda. Actions were also carried out, which even today have a bitter taste in the public opinion of Saranda. Yes, they are gone...! I believe you are satisfied with what I told you? /Memorie.al
