The Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, has reacted to the case of the 27-year-old in Kamëz, the mother of a 2-year-old girl, who ended her life by jumping from the fourth floor terrace, after it was published intimate photos on social networks.
Through a video message published on social networks, Spiropali demands maximum punishment for the person who caused/prompted this tragedy.
"As a mother, as a woman, as a minister and deputy of the Assembly, starting from these traumatic phenomena, I am undertaking an initiative of concrete proposals for gender-based violence, for intervention in legislation in line with the recommendations of GREVIO and EU legislation -'s. I am open to any suggestions from associations or individuals, for this wound that destroys and takes people's lives", said Spiropali.
A day ago it was reported that the young woman had fallen accidentally, but now the investigation has taken another turn. The State Police has identified and detained a person suspected of blackmail and gender-based violence on social networks with serious consequences for the young woman's life."
"A banal TikTok character has been arrested for this incident, who allegedly published the girl's photo on social networks. This photo was then circulated on other networks. This terribly serious case, just like the previous reported cases, or those cases that are never reported and kept silent, demand justice", Spiropali emphasized.
According to the minister, denunciations of cybercrimes and online threats should be treated with the utmost seriousness.
"The language of humiliation, blackmail and denigration of women is often found in the visual, written and online media, where the attacks go unanalyzed and unpunished by the law and society. Reports of cybercrimes and online threats should be treated with the utmost seriousness by law enforcement and the justice system. Legislation for online media, cybercrimes, the criminal code, etc., need immediate intervention so that the culture of blackmail, defamation and denigration is fought without any reservation from the law and does not return to social normality", underlined Spiropali.
