The British ambassador, Alastair King-Smith made a general comment about justice and chose not to mention the name of former mayor Vangjush Dako who was arrested on the orders of SPAK.
In an interview for the show "Real Story" on "Repot TV", King-Smith asked the institutions of justice to do the job without making any distinctions so that no one is above the state.
" You don't expect me to refer to individual cases that are being litigated, but the principle is very clear; impunity must be ended and accountability must be improved and a justice in which people can trust must be established. We strongly urge all justice institutions to play their part, meet the standards expected of them and set out in law and actively fight corruption in order to truly end these difficult dynamics. which Albania and other countries are facing.
So we call on these institutions to fulfill their mandates and to do so without distinguishing between individuals and to apply the same standards and rules to all. We as the United Kingdom will continue to support this, we will support independent institutions; we want to see them progress and encourage them to be confident and take all the necessary actions. It is important that the rule of law applies to everyone and that no one is above the rule of law ," said King-Smith.
