
Journalist Klodiana Lala explained the accusations that the prosecution has against the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, for whom today GJKKO ordered the measure of arrest and imprisonment for two charges.
In an interview for the "Te Paespozuarit" show, Lala said that Dako is accused of abuse of office for a building built in 2011, but which was severely damaged by the earthquake in 2019, and the second charge for the rehabilitation of Currilava beach.
The palace was built without a permit and the mayor together with his subordinates gave him the opportunity to legalize it, while for the project in Currilla the amount that had to be paid was exceeded.
" The former mayor of Durrës has been arrested for abuse of office in two episodes. The first episode is about a palace in 2011 and about the Promenade, to rehabilitate the beach in Currila.
As for the building, SPAK started investigations after the denunciation of some residents, who were affected by the damage to their building in the 2019 earthquake. From the data, Fiqiri Farruku, in 2010, received permission to build the building, which was 7 floors. Another loft permit was then obtained. The permit was issued in 2014. The owner, during 2011, had built the entire building. The prosecution says: We have seen that the building was finished and that residents had entered it. There is also data through google earth.
At the moment when the permit was revealed, Dako's employees made forged documents, where it was said that: the palace has passed all the procedures. They haven't done any testing. In addition to Mr. Dako, the prosecution also signed 6 other arrest warrants.
IKMT of the municipality has suspended the construction and fined them. Despite this, Dako has accepted all the documents and the palace has been legalized. This palace was built without permission and the mayor together with his subordinates gave him the opportunity to legalize it.
In the second case, the municipality had a project to rehabilitate the area of Currilove, to rehabilitate it. Mr. Dako defined a tender, how that beach would be developed. With the VKM of 1994, a project-idea cannot cost more than 25 thousand euros, while this one cost 21 million new ALL.
Dako concluded the contract with the winning company and then, since the payment was to be made in installments, KLSH conducted an audit and came to the conclusion that this tender was violated. It was requested from KLSH that measures be taken, but he continued to deepen the damage, making the payment in the amount of 40%.
Mr. Dako gave several alternatives, such as a property guarantee and blocking his passport to prevent him from leaving the country, but he was not accepted. In the meantime, 2 people have been released, as one of them had fallen ill and the other had sickened the child ", said Lala.
