Journalist Basir Çollaku, invited to the show "Te Pashoq" on the "Pamphlet" channel on YouTube, also spoke about the opening of gambling at the beginning of April.
Çollaku stated that gambling is one of the areas where the biggest money laundering takes place and where criminal groups are involved. According to Çollaku, the reason why the government brought back betting was because a part of the government wanted a piece of the cake of this very profitable business.
As for the reason why this particular time was chosen to open gambling, Çollaku said that it has to do with two factors, that of the disappearance of Ervis Martinaj, who controlled most of this business, and with the coming of the elections in 2025. Çollaku stressed that the money earned from this business will be used to buy the next elections.

The government brought back gambling, removed it with so much fanfare and brought it back, why?
Basir Çollaku : It is one of the big money laundering addresses. In addition to being a multi-billion dollar business, foreign companies have now entered the scene. Gambling exists everywhere and around the world, but the way it is done here and the actors involved now and again, a serious and quality filter is needed to prevent the implication and involvement of mafia and international groups in Albania. I doubt there will be such a sieve seeing who is the initiator.
But why did he bring them back?
Basir Çollaku : He returned after the disappearance of Ervis Martinaj, who was one of the main players in this business with all its ups and downs and a strong fight for this financial cake where other power actors wanted to be involved.
So to take the government itself?
Basir Çollaku : There are actors and her clients. There is something else that I believe is this moment of the discourse of this business happens before the electoral campaign. We are before the election campaign of 2025 and we need funding, we need more money to invest, buy and keep power, so that they can then together make money with this purchased power.
