The "Hasan Prishtina" Foundation, together with the Kukës Municipality, organizes the inauguration of the bust of the national hero Hasan Prishtina, the eighth prime minister of the Albanian state. Hasan Prishtina's great-grandson, Mehmet Prishtina, at the same time director of the foundation, said that the placement of Hasan Prishtina's bust in Kukës is an extraordinary moment.
Meanwhile, the remains of Hasan Prishtina rest in the martyrs' cemetery of the city of Kukës. Years ago, Kosovo asked the official Tirana to return the remains of Hasan Prishtina and to rest next to Ibrahim Rugova and Adem Demaç.
But the great-grandson of the national hero says that the remains of Hasan Prishtina, together with those of other patriots, should be placed in a pantheon (a magnificent building where the remains of the most prominent people of a nation are kept) that the Albanian nation lacks, which according to him can be built in Prizren in the city of the Albanian League.
"We miss the cemeteries of the pantheons. My request has been that the remains of Hasan Prishtina should be buried together with other prominent figures. Until this is thought out, we are of the opinion that Hasan Prishtina should rest in Kukës. We put it as an idea, Prizren is also an ideal place for Albania and Kosovo to think about where the cemetery of the Pantheons should be", he said.
Since 1977, with a decision of the government of Albania, his remains were brought from Thessaloniki to Kukës and currently rest in the martyrs' cemetery.
