Journalist Artan Hoxha has announced that another request for the extradition of crime bosses from Dubai has failed.
On social networks, he writes that the police authorities there have released Julian Meçaj. According to him, Meçaj was declared an international wanted by Interpol Tirana after on 20.01.2023 the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, Tirana with the criminal decision no. 89, dated 20.11.2022, assigned the security measure "Prison arrest" for this citizen, for the criminal offenses "Attempted murder of public officials", "Attempted murder", "Unauthorized production and possession of weapons and military ammunition", "Theft committed in collaboration and more than once", "Structured criminal group" and "Providing the conditions/means to commit murder" provided by articles 79/a-22, 79/dh- 22, 278/1,2; 28/4, 333/a/2, 334 and 80 of the Criminal Code. He is suspected of being involved in the attack on prosecutor Arjan Ndoja.

The next request for the extradition of highly wanted persons from Dubai fails.
Today, after 60 days of imprisonment, the police authorities of the Emirate of Dubai have released Julian Meçe from prison, arrested at the request of Interpol Tirana to extradite him to Albania.
Interpol Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, officially confirmed that on 17.01.2024, Julian Meçaj was arrested for the purpose of extradition to Albania.
Meçaj has been declared an international wanted by Interpol Tirana after on 20.01.2023 the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, Tirana with the criminal decision no. 89, dated 20.11.2022, assigned the security measure "Prison arrest" for this citizen, for the criminal offenses "Attempted murder of public officials", "Attempted murder", "Unauthorized production and possession of weapons and military ammunition", "Theft committed in collaboration and more than once", "Structured criminal group" and "Providing the conditions/means to commit murder" provided by articles 79/a-22, 79/dh- 22, 278/1,2; 28/4, 333/a/2, 334 and 80 of the Criminal Code.
Julian Meçe escaped an assassination attempt on June 20, 2019, while driving the Range Rover, in which Plarent Dervishi and Bashkim Haxhia were traveling.
On 01.11.2019 on the Tirana-Durres highway in the vicinity of the Shkozet Overpass, Julian Meçaj is accused of having, in cooperation with other persons, fired a firearm at the vehicle with license plate AA 333 ZD, in which prosecutor Arian Ndoja was traveling. Aleksander Laho and driver Andi Maloku. In this event, Arian Ndoja and Aleksander Laho were injured, while Andi Maloku died.
Interpol Tirana, on January 17, 2024 announced with fanfare that it was carrying out all procedures in cooperation with Interpol Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates with the aim of extraditing Mecaj.
But from today, Julian Meçaj is free again...
