The Albanian community in Melbourne, Australia, has held a rally in support of the protest organized in Tirana, joining calls for more transparency, justice and accountability in Albania.
The event was attended by Albanians from various parts of Australia, as well as compatriots from New Zealand. Organizers described the rally as an expression of solidarity with citizens protesting in Albania and as an opportunity to convey the voice of the Albanian diaspora.
Protesters carried banners and messages against corruption, impunity and misuse of public assets. Speeches emphasized the need to strengthen democratic institutions, increase the accountability of public officials and guarantee equality before the law.
One of the most prominent slogans of the rally was "We want patriots, not painters," while participants also repeated the motto "The homeland is not for sale," linking it to the protection of national assets and the public interest.
According to the organizers, the Albanian diaspora remains closely connected to developments in the country and has a moral obligation to react to issues that affect the future of Albania.
They emphasized that Albanians living abroad continue to contribute economically and socially to the homeland, so their voices must be heard.
The rally called on citizens in Albania not to give up in the face of accumulated disappointments over the years and to continue to seek change through civic engagement. Participants expressed that change comes when citizens refuse to remain silent and continue to demand accountability from public institutions.
The rally in Melbourne is one of the activities organized by the Albanian diaspora in support of causes related to political and social developments in Albania, demonstrating the continued interest of Albanian communities abroad in the issues of the homeland.
