With several hotbeds of war spread around the world and the fear of a nuclear war breaking out, European countries are starting to prepare for the worst.
Since with the outbreak of Covid-19, countries were caught unprepared, which brought many consequences for people, now the EU has decided to prepare countries for the most likely imminent danger at present, that of a nuclear attack.
Albania is also part of this initiative, which today has improvised the case of a nuclear attack.
A chemical attack has occurred…. With special clothing and detectors that detect the active agent, doctors of the national emergency intervened to help the citizens. The situation was improvised in "Skënderbej" square in Tirana.
"It is a very important sector that we have been missing as part of the medical emergency response. We can never say that we are calm because we don't have nuclear power plants, we have the risk that chemicals are transported throughout the territory of Albania, chemicals are stored in different warehouses, chemicals are sometimes produced in different environments, that's why it can happen from one moment to the next ", said Skënder Brataj.
220 thousand euros has been financed by the European Union to equip the National Emergency with special clothing and materials for such interventions.
"It is not only the fact of the training, but also the completion of the materials and equipment needed for decontamination, identifying the type of agent, whether it is chemical, biological or radioactive. By identifying such a thing, we are able to immediately detect the contamination from the substance, but above all we predict the type of treatment through antidotes or not based on the substance that caused this type of accident" , he added.
Trained doctors and nurses will be the first to spread the knowledge to colleagues in other hospitals. At the end of this process, Albania will go to the Center for Destructive Emergencies.
