The Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has made the decision for Lefter Koka, Alqi Bllako and 13 other defendants involved in the incinerator affair.
The former MP of the SP, Alqi Blako, was sentenced to 4 years in prison, but with a shortened trial he will serve 2.8 years in prison.
Klodian Zoto, who is still on the run, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by GJKKO for the Fier incinerator affair. Zoto is accused of corruption, fraud, VAT fraud schemes and money laundering. On summary judgment, he will serve 8 years in prison.
The former Minister of the Environment, Lefter Koka, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by GJKKO for the Fier incinerator affair, but with a shortened trial he will serve 6.8 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Albert Dervishi, Arjola Kodra and Juri Imeraj have been declared innocent.
The investigations for the Fier incinerator were closed in December 2022. According to SPAK's allegations, 4 million euros were paid for the Fier incinerator for work that was never performed, while 60 million lek is the damage caused to the state budget in the fraud scheme.
During the reading of the criminal facts of the file, SPAK prosecutors said that former minister Koka received 146 million ALL in bribes to illegally favor the winning company, while former MP Ballako received 14 million. In addition to "corruption" and "abuse of duty", according to SPAK, there was also "fraud" and "money laundering" in the Fier incinerator and that Klodian Zoto's company benefited 4 million euros for services that were not performed, but situations were presented falsified, performing the works only on paper.
