The Tirana court has cleared the way for the extradition of former KLA soldier, Dritan Goxhaj.
The latter was arrested in Tirana with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo with the aim of extradition to The Hague.
The Special Court of Kosovo has issued an arrest warrant for the escort of the American troops during the War in Kosovo in 1999, after accusing him of revealing the names of witnesses in several cases previously opened by the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo. Goxhaj's lawyers requested his release and described the arrest as political.
At the time when the trial was being held, his supporters protested outside the doors of the Tirana Court.
With banners in their hands, pleats on their heads and T-shirts with national and KLA symbols, they considered his arrest unjust.
The main reason is for this justice done to the KLA officers. How can a person be arrested for extradition? We are in justice. Time will tell who did it. Dritan Goxhaj cannot be arrested for the whims of one or the other. We are in a mafia state that kidnaps people without laws. How can a ghost court be thwarted by Facebook, these are wonders. There is no extradition order. Those who have done this charade will bear criminal responsibility. - said one of the protesters.

Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31, 2023 with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo for the purpose of extradition to The Hague.
Who is Dritan Goxhaj?
Dritan Goxhaj joined the KLA as an officer of the Albanian Army at the aviation school and was authorized by the General Staff to maintain contact with the command of the American Forces in Albania.
He is the son of the soldier Dilaver Goxhaj, who voluntarily joined the KLA, following the request of the KLA General Staff, when he was entrusted with the position of Deputy Chief of the KLA General Staff and, with the commitment of NATO in the war, he was entrusted with the duty of the cooperation officer with NATO.
