The QSUT emergency room has been left without electricity, as a result of a problem with the 110kV line of the Transmission System Operator (OST). This situation has caused tension and fear among patients, but also their families, especially in the resuscitation service.
Almost half of Tirana has been without electricity for almost 2 hours. After a problem on the 110kV line of the Transmission System Operator (OST), power was cut off in several substations that supply the areas of Ali Demi, Fresku, the former Autotraktor Factory, Brryl, Don Bosko and Astir.
This situation has created chaos, where in addition to many families being forced to stay in the cold with low temperatures and without electricity, the lives of many patients at the University Hospital Center have been endangered.
They were taken out of the intensive care units and urgently removed from the resuscitation room, and then transferred through the hospital corridors. It is learned that the generator failed to turn on, which caused tension and fear for the patients' lives.
This serious situation, which has also included the Central Resuscitation Unit of the QSUT, has put at risk the functioning of the most critical ward of the largest hospital in the country.
According to complaints from citizens and patients' families, the power outage has created total chaos and uncertainty, alarming the relatives of those hospitalized in serious health conditions.
This case raises serious questions regarding the functioning of generators and the emergency system, in a ward where the lives of patients directly depend on electrical equipment and an uninterrupted power supply.
To date, the QSUT directorate has not provided any official reaction or explanation about the causes of this technical defect, nor even about the measures taken to restore normality and guarantee patient safety.
