Journalist Arian Çani has stated that the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, is a victim of the repressive political system against him, the media system and the justice system.
Çani made his comments on the "Now" show on Euronews Albania, where he said that currently Prime Minister Edi Rama is the winner in this matter.
He said that Greece is withdrawn and is not protecting Beleri enough. According to him, even the US and the EU are not putting enough pressure on Prime Minister Edi Rama to at least allow Beler to take the oath.
"I am following the developments of the Beler process. I don't see any change in Athens' attitude until today. If you want my position as to the balance of forces, there are several sides to this. First up on March 5th is Beller's trial, I don't expect any big surprises. All the experts and people who have seen the file, it is completely messed up.
Everyone who works near SPAK wonders how Beleri is kept in prison. For me, he is a victim of a repressive political system towards him, a perverse media system towards him and a victim of a legal system, of justice. For me this was one side.
The other side is the political part of Athens, I think that in these moments Rama has the upper hand, Greece is withdrawn, even though it talks about the veto, there are small voices that defend it. If we were to see this as a fight, I see the Rams winning right now. It doesn't ask what Greece wants, it doesn't put pressure on either the US or the EU. The official Tirana at this moment is the winner over the official Athens", said Çani.
