The court decided two days ago to release from the cell the former mayor of the Municipality of Durres, Vangjush Dako, arrested in June 2023, by order of SPAK, together with 8 former officials of the municipality of Durres and a builder, with accusations of abuse of office in 2 cases.
The investigative journalist, Artan Hoxha, said that the arrest of Vangjush Dako was expected for 5 years because other files had come out, but he was arrested with two charges that had extreme measures, even though he had to be investigated.
He further stated that the court was forced to decide that SPAK failed to respect the deadlines for the investigation of this case.
"Since the moment of the arrest, even though we had been waiting for 5 years, after several files came out, the former mayor of Durrës and Rama's close man, who defended him and said that DASH does not decide who my friends are, was arrested on June 6, 2023. He was arrested on two charges that the measure was too extreme, to prison arrest. I don't know why, because you can investigate and not directly to extreme measures.
After 9 months he was released from prison, although the house arrest is the same, and the charges have not been dropped, although they are minimal for what we have not heard. Should he have been arrested on June 6, 2023 and released on February 27, 2024? It is only a mitigation of punishment. SPAK failed to respect the deadlines for the investigation of this case. The public perception is satisfied by the arrest. Security measures have deadlines, you can't keep him in prison ," said Hoxha for the show "The Unexposed".
