The Tirana Prosecutor's Office has deepened its investigations into the scandal of a few days ago where 56 students of the Security Academy were poisoned by food from "Sori-Al", the company of Nikolin Jaka and Alma Tafani.
The analysis showed that one of the products included in the students' food package, specifically pasta, contained the bacteria Staphylococcus coagulase and Escherichia Coli.
The contamination occurred during cooking, and it was concluded that the cause of the presence of bacteria was related to poor hygienic conditions in the place where the food was cooked.
The Tirana Prosecution Office has launched investigations into the case, and it is reported that the investigation process has been deepened. Today, Ersid Hasanllari, former head of the National Food Authority for Tirana, and Flutura Polaci, director of the Local Health Care Unit, appeared for questioning at the Prosecution Office.
Both have been summoned to give their statements before the investigative group. Their testimonies are expected to shed more light on the mass poisoning of security academy students, while after the incident, the AKU blocked the company's activity and fined it 1.5 million lek for unsafe food and inadequate hygienic-sanitary conditions.
The investigations are expected to shed light on how the company "Sori-Al" won the tender, but also on how it operates in conditions when it did not meet the hygienic-sanitary requirements. This is due to the fact that the poisoning of May 6, 2026 of the students of the security academy is the 3rd case that has occurred with the same company, which also supplies food to a series of nurseries and hospital centers.
After the poisoning of the students, Tirana Police arrested the technologist and the chef and have declared the owner of the company wanted for poisoning the students of the Security Academy.
The students who were poisoned had severe symptoms, with vomiting and severe abdominal pain. After being admitted to the hospital, receiving medication and serums, they returned to the Security Academy.
By the end of 2025, the Sori-Al company results as the winner of 75 public tenders, with a total value of 4.2 billion lek.
For police students, the case of May 6, 2026 is the third time, after 2015, that Nikolin Jaka's "Sori-Al" company poisons them with food, endangering their lives, while being tolerated by the Academy's leaders, with whom it has bargained.
The first case is the poisoning of 63 police students on May 18, 2015. This poisoning was attempted to be kept secret through checks from businessman Nikolin Jaka, given to the leaders, but was discovered when the students' condition worsened and they were sent to the "Mother Teresa" Hospital Center, Tirana.
The second case is the poisoning of 30 police students, on March 3, 2021, when again the leaders of the Police Academy, in bargaining with businessman Nikolin Jaka, tried to keep it secret, but the students' condition worsened and they were sent to the "Mother Teresa" Hospital Center, Tirana.
