Another fire broke out on Sunday afternoon in the reedy area near Tale beach, in Lezha, covering a significant area along the coastline.
According to information from the field, the flames were favored by strong winds, spreading rapidly in an area extending from about 500 meters to approximately 1 kilometer.
The Lezha fire brigade has intervened at the scene, but is facing difficulties due to the unsuitable terrain. The presence of swamps between the beach and the area affected by the fire makes it impossible for firefighting vehicles to approach the fire, making the extinguishing operation difficult.
There are also several tourist and service structures near the affected area. For this reason, firefighting teams have been placed on standby near them, with the aim of immediate intervention in case the flames advance towards the buildings.
The representative of the General Directorate of Fire Protection and Rescue Service, Agustin Pepkolaj, stated to the media that fire service vehicles are present on the ground and that, despite the spread of the fire and the strong wind, so far it has been possible to ensure that no business or residence is at risk.
"It has been possible for fire service vehicles to be present. The fire is spread throughout the territory. Even though the wind is favorable, we have made it possible for no business or home to be in danger. We have been able to localize the flames," said Pepkolaj.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while the operation to isolate and completely extinguish the fire continues.
