Former President Ilir Meta's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, tells what has happened to the leader of the Freedom Party since his arrest.
Gjokutaj said that the measure was communicated to Meta at the Tirana police department, since no documents were shown to him at the time of his arrest.
He added that during his meetings with Meta, the latter was in a good state of mind, but he also expressed boredom and revolt at the way he was arrested.
Asked about an incident that Meta had the first night in the security block, Gjokutaj said that the former President did not have arguments with the staff. However, at one point he was offered a lawyer, which Meta rejected "with disgust" telling him to leave in a loud tone.
"It was an illegal kidnapping. Meta was accompanied to the directorate of Tirana where he stayed for about 1 hour. The decision was also communicated to the police directorate, because the operational forces that took it did not present any documents. From the police headquarters, he was taken to the security block near prison 302.
I last saw him yesterday, but I have seen him every day since his arrest. Meta is in a pretty calm state of mind. Of course there is that boredom and his revolt at the way of taking against the procedures. In contrast, he is dealing with file deeds. In the session of the verification of the measure that was carried out at GJKKO, he gave a speech for about 55 minutes where he explained all the insinuations that the court decision attributed to Mr. Meta. He gave his version of what happened.
Mr. Meta did not speak while he was in the security block with the staff. There was a moment when a lawyer was sent to defend him and he refused in disgust. He loudly told him to leave because he was not left without protection. "Someone he doesn't know has gone, recommended, and now they are taking care to put a fictitious protection ," Gjokutaj told "News 24".
