The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who was left in prison by the 'people of March 2', has revealed the main internal traitor in the May 11 elections.
"I thank all those friends who worked, but who were betrayed by a scoundrel, who, on my order, has been declared non grata and the Secretary General of the Freedom Party knows, who handed over the list of 12 thousand names that Ilir Meta's friends, friends, and well-wishers had made to vote for Ilir Meta, to the patronage workers because he expected to become Secretary General instead of Tedi Blushi, according to the promises of his colleagues," Meta said.
The 'internal enemy' that Ilir Meta speaks of is one of his most trusted people, Petrit Sinaj, former mayor of Berat for the years 2015-2019, proposed by the LSI, i.e. by Meta. Meta's credibility was strengthened with Sinaj when the latter married the daughter of Ilir Meta's aunt.
After leaving the Presidency, Ilir Meta appointed Sinaj as Secretary for Local Government in the LSI. Sinaj has even been seen several times in the role of Ilir Meta's driver, who now accuses him of being sold out to Edi Rama, handing over a list of friends to whom Meta has sent 12,000 letters from prison, asking them to support him in the May 11 elections.
Petrit Sinaj from imam to priest
Petrit Sinaj graduated from the "Aleksandër Xhuvani" University in Elbasan with a degree in teaching. During his studies, he began attending a religious institution in that city, the "El Hagri" Institute, an Islamic religious institution that would later be closed by the Albanian government for suspicious connections.
When he saw that nothing was working out with this institution, Sinaj did not stay put, but joined several evangelical associations, turning from "hoxha" to "priest".
In the years 1995-1997 he worked as a teacher. From 1997 to 2002 he served as a Protestant pastor in several different areas of the country, also working with several evangelical religious organizations. This is the golden period of Sinai in terms of the economic aspect.
In 2003, he would run in the municipality of Sinja under the Democratic Party's logo, facing his uncle's son in this municipality, who was running under the SP's logo.
It is understood that Sina's defeat was certain.
This is his first run and his first defeat in politics. But Sinaj seems to have understood that victory is only achieved through defeats.
The connection with Ilir Meta
From 2003 to 2006, he continued his work with the preaching of the Gospel and with several foreign NGOs. It was precisely this year (2006) that Ilir Meta came into conflict with the leaders of the Berat LSI, dissolving the Berat branch of the LSI and establishing it from scratch.
The right person for this position would be the former frequenter of the Islamic foundation "El Hagri", converted to Protestantism, as an Evangelical, and nominated by the DP as its candidate in the municipality of Sinja against his uncle's son, namely the husband of Ilir Meta's first cousin, Petrit Sinaj.
The vacuum left by the former leaders of the SMI in Berat allowed Sinaj to consolidate his positions.
While his family connection with Meta would accompany him all the time like a polar star.
The years 2007 to 2011 say nothing about Mr. Sinaj, except that he fought hard against the 2009 SMI candidate, Gledjon Rehovica, to not win as an MP in Berat, his greatest achievement being holding the position of Secretary General of the Berat Prefecture.
In 2011, at that time the SMI was in coalition with the DP, he asked Meta to run for Chairman of the Berat District Council, a candidacy he won, as a result of the great support that the entire DP gave him at that time and especially as a result of the support that Meta was giving to his cousin's husband.
After taking over the leadership of the Berat District, the first thing he does is dismiss all employees of this institution and replace them with LSI militants, which would cause millions of lek damage to the state budget.
A corrupt affair
In 2013, Ilir Meta sensed Sali Berisha's defeat and approached Edi Rama. For his part, Edi Rama, after the defeat in 2009, even though the SP came out on top, and after Berisha stole his victory in Tirana in 2011, had uncertainty and joined Meta. Two years later, Edi Rama accepted Meta's proposal to run his aunt's daughter's husband, Petrit Sinaj, for the Municipality of Berat, where the victory of the left has never been discussed.
As mayor of Berat, Petrit Sinaj began channeling public money into the pockets of Vladimir Metan, who is Ilir Meta's uncle.
Ilir Meta's uncle has received public tenders worth around 25 million euros, plus billions of lek in subcontracting.
Ilir Meta's uncle, Vladimir Metani, who collected votes for LSI in Kamëz, received public money through the Desaret Company, with the registration number K01816001J.
The company was founded in 1996 and is believed to have received tens of millions of euros in public money over the years, with the influence of Ilir Meta.
Metani has sometimes appeared as the owner himself, sometimes he has transferred the company to the name of citizen Sofije Shani. However, records show that the company was founded and is controlled by Ilir Meta's uncle.

On July 17, 2019, Petrit Sinaj awarded Meta's uncle the tender for the reconstruction of the 1 Maj School in Berat, worth 500 thousand euros, with a modest difference between the limit fund and the winning bid. Meta's uncle received millions of euros in tenders from the municipalities of Skrapar, Lezhë, Përrenjas, etc., run by LSI representatives. SPAK has not investigated this line of corruption of Ilir Meta in the context of the copying of his corruption file since 2002 until he left the Presidency.
Meta's aunt's daughter received 44 hectares of public land from Panariti for business
After switching from Berisha to Rama's side, Ilir Meta found himself back in power in 2013. In addition to finalizing his affairs with CEZ-DIA, interconnection, custom laws, etc., verified by SPAK, Meta also thought about his close people. To carry out corrupt affairs, Meta used his ministers and directors, such as Piro Xhixho, Edmond Haxhinasto, Edmond Panarit, etc.
Meta mobilizes the Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panarit, to give his aunt's daughter, Sonila Sinaj, the wife of Petrit Sinaj, 44 hectares of public land, for 99 years, to invest in medicinal plants.
