Former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha, invited to Quo Vadis, said that today in Albania it is difficult to track crypto, especially if the state profits from it.
He said that it is necessary to find a way for the state to win if there is a violation of the law.
"We have law number 66 of 2020, which speaks in general. Cryptos are in a device. When a prosecutor takes a procedural action, he must hire an expert. You can't hire a simple expert, but you need an engineer, so the money has monetary value. The problem could be the work of the code. We put people in prison for laundering the product, now we have to seize the crypto, we have to seize the money. We must always start from the benefit of the state, so when an operation is done, is it worth it, what does the state gain? There have been proceedings that cost 1 million euros, such as prostitution, but we have not seized any money," said Karanxha.
