After the publication of the news about the visit of the model from Kosovo, Ziza Pajaziti, to the cell of life-sentenced prisoner Laert Haxhiu in Drenova prison, the Deputy Director General of Prisons, Femi Sufaj, reacted on the "Real Story" show on ABC News.
He confirmed that there were violations of internal rules for meetings with prisoners, which led to the suspension of six security officers and the dismissal of the institution's director.
According to Sufaj, this is an isolated case, but it has prompted a wide-ranging inspection of all prisons in the country to prevent similar incidents from recurring. He stressed that the incident does not represent the general reality of the prison system in Albania.
" It is no secret that it has been made public, because there have been violations of the rules for meeting prisoners. This is not the panorama of prisons. There have been violations of the rules that have led to the suspension of six officers. This incident, which was caught by our structures as a violation and the public has also been informed. There has been a violation of the rules of visits. A chain inspection has been carried out throughout the republic, in case it could be a repeated case. It is not an incident with consequences. In this case, planned visits should have been made. The director who was released, only due to lack of planning , "said the Deputy Director General of Prisons, Femi Sufaj.
