The Venice Commission has sent a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, informing her that the Assembly's request for an opinion on the issue of Olta Xhaçka's mandate has been accepted.
In the letter addressed to Spiropali, the Commission expresses its readiness to take up the case and thanks the speaker of the parliament for the trust given to the Commission.
Full letter:
"Dear President/ Thank you for your letter dated September 13, 2024, by which you request the opinion of the Venice Commission on the relationship between representative parliamentary democracy and the binding decisions of the Constitutional Court, in the context of the role of the Assembly in considering motions for the incompatibility of the deputy's mandate.
Through this letter I confirm the readiness of the Venice Commission to prepare this opinion for approval at the 141st plenary session (December 6-7, 2024).
I would like to express my gratitude for the trust in the Venice Commission.
