DP MP Asllan Dogjani has stated that crime has taken an extraordinary rise. Dogjani, speaking about the race for the director of the State Police, said that he is chosen by the prime minister.
According to him, criminal groups are lobbying for the election of the head of the State Police. He said that the law and order situation in the country is alarming.
" Crime has taken off tremendously. Starting from the big events during the summer, we called the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha. There were serious events in Albania, Egli Proga was killed in Pogradec. Proga was killed for the second time by the fact that the case is not being followed properly. Hoxha said that in 2013 the police were not at the right levels, while he was part of the State Police. Today we have cases of appointments of police directors by criminal groups. The Minister of the Interior has turned out to be more political than the SP deputies. The director is chosen only by the prime minister and is chosen by illegal lobbying by criminal groups ," he told News 24.
According to Dogjani, there are chiefs of police stations who pay money to criminals. And the opposite, there are criminals who pay a tax to the police so that the officers do not intervene.
" Criminal groups have been strengthened. Crime and the police have become one. Some of the police are drug users. Criminal groups help the government in elections and the government pays back. People also flee from insecurity. Rama did not ask anyone about the creation of a state within a state ," he said.
