Three killed and one injured is the balance of an assassination that happened on the evening of July 20, 2024 that shook the city of Memaliaj. The event was recorded around 23:20 in a bar in district no. 3, in front of the Memaliaj Municipality building.
The target of the assassination attempt was Shyqyri Kalemi, the father of Andrea Kalemi, who could not survive the 6 bullets that were fired at his shame. Likewise, the 36-year-old waiter, Gledio Muka, and the 47-year-old customer, Marsel Çela, two innocent victims who were in the bar at the time of the incident, lost their lives.
Artur Kalemi, Andrea Kalemi's uncle, was also injured. He was sitting at a table outside with his brother Shyqyri (Shyqo) Kalemi, when a Kalashnikov was fired at them. Artur Kalemi, 57 years old, is in resuscitation at the Gjirokastra Hospital and received two wounds, one in the thigh and one in the chest.
Marcel Çela's uncle, in the "Me Zemër te Hapur" show, stated that he was only 200 meters away from the scene of the crime, while he did not even know that his nephew was in Memaliaj, as he had come at the weekend to meet his parents.
"I knew Marcel who was in Vlora. Just two months ago he came from Germany. At the weekend, he went to Memaliaj for two days to spend time with his parents. At 11 o'clock he went out for coffee. At 11:30 the incident happened.
I was 200 meters away from the scene, I didn't even know that my nephew had come to Memaliaj. My last conversation was on July 14th. We were in Vlora and he told me if we would go out for coffee", he said.
