Journalist Klodiana Lala said that doctors are not the only ones responsible for the serious situation in Albanian health. Lala said that they are the executors, while those responsible are the Minister of Health who should have resigned after the scandal at the Oncology hospital.
According to her, everyone knew about the cobalt device that they were getting sick and the minister should apologize and leave her post.
"Doctors in this particular case are in the role of executor, that's why they are the most attacked in public opinion, who have experienced the ordeal of this system. But when you take the pyramid, doctors are third or fourth. According to me, the doctors are the third party and they are the executioners, because they are the people who did not give the dose and led to the loss of the patients' lives.
On the other hand, we have several financiers. We do not have any political incumbent in QSUT who has resigned, because there are even more serious reports. A woman went to the Ministry of Justice in her last throes and said to investigate the doctors, they are giving me half a dose. Everyone has known about the cobalt device that they are getting sick and the minister should come out and say sorry and run away from office. There has been an investigation by the Special Prosecutor's Office into the sale of unauthorized drugs and smuggling and there is still no one responsible. Contraband drugs have entered Albania, including those that can cause death, and there is no one responsible from customs.
There are tenders that in their genesis start with 30 percent bribes and when it goes that much for bribes, a part of the therapy will be removed. There are dozens of pharmacies that have medicine on their counter that they cannot have according to the law. Doctors are the executors, but they are not the only ones responsible. What is happening is very minor and does not happen only in Oncology, but in the entire health system. It starts with the referral system from the family doctor to the QSUT. The Minister knew from a German expert that the Oncology Center and the surrounding environment was contaminated by radiation and did not react. Stopping only with doctors, with this criminal core, is not the whole problem," said Lala.
