After speeches held in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the protesters of the 39th day of the anti-government rally have begun the march on the main axes of Tirana, while at the end they are expected to return to the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, where they will close the protest.
With national flags and banners in their hands, citizens march, chanting "Rama is gone", "Rama in prison", "Berisha in prison", "Revolution", "Rama resigns", "Albania belongs to Albanians, not those in power", "The people demand dignity, justice" and "Here's to Rama's surrender".
This evening, protesters reiterated the demands they consider non-negotiable: the resignation of the prime minister and the government, the establishment of a transitional technical government, the reform of the political system, and the repeal of laws that, according to them, favor clientelistic interests.
Citizens of different ages took the podium - men, women, elderly, young and children, who shared their concerns and called for radical change in the political system.
Unlike traditional protests, the participants in this rally are not only demanding the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but also former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the entire old political class. According to the protesters, Albania needs a new model of governance and a final break from the politics that, they say, has dominated the country for decades.
Organizers have announced that the protests will continue every day until their demands are met.
