The well-known journalist of the Greek minority in Albania, Panajot Barka, speaking on the show "The Unexposed" on MCN, said that Fredi Beleri, elected MEP in Greece, is not a representative who enjoys the support of the Greek ethnic minority in Albania and the excellent representative of this minority. According to him, he was manipulated by structures determined by personal ties to Fredi Beleri and in the name of minority rights.
"I think this is an expression of the reality of politics between the two countries. Especially regarding this matter, which is not an escalation. First of all, Fredi Beleri, if we start from the votes, it is not the case that he is the representative who enjoys the support of the Greek ethnic minority in Albania, he is not the excellent representative of this minority.
There is a mystification and a manipulation, I would say. That is, respecting or representing the minorities through Beler, and what I told you about myself, what is my position and opinion, that is, he is not the excellent representative of this minority.
When Beller's candidacy was decided in Greece, there was something very important, a very important development. What was the most important development? That the opposition parties accused the "New Democracy" saying that you have an issue that until now had a Greek ethnic national content and the return to a political mode of the political interests of the party in power to curb, according to the claims of democracy, for restrained the flight of votes to the extreme right. So I don't believe it was just a general Greek policy to invest in Beler, but it was manipulated, so to speak, by established structures with personal ties to Fredi Beler and in the name of minority rights.
Beleri was promoted in this story, after the extraordinary investment that was made, for him to win the elections in Himara, as he did. This is the reality according to my attitude and opinion.
It is invested, I said, in the name of the rights of the minority, which, in my opinion, is not a correct and real thing.
The event of 1994-1995 was repeated when some people, who were not worthy representatives of the minority, were again helped and promoted as its heroes. After that, not only were these "Five" forgotten, but the minority in its rights was also forgotten. And this brought about then brought about the expulsion or departure of the largest number of the Greek minority, because they felt insecure. I think that in the case of Bilen we have the same thing. That is, we have an investment inside Albania in the name of minority rights, in the name of the rule of law and property rights in general in Albania to pave the way for Albania towards the European Union, we have a direct investment for Beleri to go to the European Union .
Look, I don't think Greece really wins much, on the contrary. I think that in this deadlock created, where several different exponents did not accept the challenge according to them, the challenge of Rama, then we have to find a way to equalize the whole situation and the export of Beler. And in this way it was a heroic exit. It is a heroic stop for Greece in the first place, but also a relaxation for the Albanian side and on this basis.
Beleri escapes from the Fier prison where he is, and goes to the European Parliament with the help of the votes of the Greek people. So this is a way out, a heroic rescue for the created situation", said Barka.
