Oliver Hoffman, head of the Criminal Office of the State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany), speaking at a joint conference with SPAK prosecutor Eneid Nakucci regarding Operation "Pandora" that the investigations began 18 months ago, while over 20 phone calls per day were intercepted.
He said that as a result of the investigations, a financial loss of 10 million euros was prevented.
"After 18 months of operation, important milestones in our cooperation and the fight against international organized crime and professional fraud schemes.
How the operation began. It began in December 2023. We began intercepting over 20 calls a day and also created an anti-call center in order to block these fraudulent calls, trying to avoid financial losses of 10 million euros.
In parallel with this, we conducted very complex investigations in the field of computer investigation to locate the centers of suspicion and the perpetrators in 5 countries, Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia, Serbia, and Lebanon.
This operation led to the crackdown on 12 international call centers and numerous arrests, numerous sentences were handed down among and the organizer of their infrastructure in Germany.
"I am pleased that it was possible to arrest these individuals on July 31, and we had the opportunity to support them on the ground ," Hoffman said.
