The Albanian Post has officially reacted after a cyberattack that occurred on March 25, 2026, which was reportedly carried out by Iranian hackers.

Authorities indicate that, although some data may have been exposed, its amount is considered limited and there has been no disruption of services to citizens.

According to the National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK), the incident affected the information technology infrastructure of the Albanian Post, but preliminary assessments do not indicate that any encrypted or deleted data was compromised.

The authority condemned the cyberattack, emphasizing its commitment to protecting critical infrastructures and ensuring the security of information systems in the country. AKSK announces that it will continue transparent public information and will publish a final report after the completion of the investigations.

Reaction to the cyber incident against the Albanian Post:

The National Cyber Security Authority informs the public that, on March 25, 2026, a cyber incident was detected that affected the information technology infrastructure of the Albanian Post.

Based on the preliminary assessment, no encrypted or deleted data has been identified, and no service interruptions have been observed as a direct result of this incident.

Immediately after receiving the notification, AKSK has taken all the steps foreseen by the operational procedures for responding to incidents, by setting up a dedicated working group, composed of cybersecurity experts. This group has immediately started working in close cooperation with the technical staff of the Albanian Post to:

* in-depth analysis of the incident and verification of any possible compromise;
* identification of indicators of compromise (IOC);
* analysis of logs and events in critical systems;
* isolation and securing of systems, in order to prevent any further impact.

As part of preventive measures and to enable a complete technical analysis, some services have been temporarily put out of operation by the Albanian Post itself, upon the recommendation of the Authority. Currently, all public services have been restored and are functional for the public.

Meanwhile, some suspected exfiltrated data has been published in open sources, which are being verified for their authenticity and source. At this point, the amount of potentially exposed data is estimated to be limited.

The National Cyber Security Authority condemns any act that violates critical information infrastructures and remains committed to guaranteeing the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information technology systems in the Republic of Albania.

AKSK will continue to inform the public in a transparent manner on further developments and will publish a final report after the conclusion of the analysis.

For any official information, citizens and the media are invited to refer only to the official channels of AKSK.
